IOS : Code review and release of guidelines and recommendations aimed at optimising the APP efficiency
X6 Innovations has internally developed an iOS application based on Bluetooth Low Energy communications. It can be found on AppStore as “Bluebee Finder” or “Bluebee objets trouvés”. The aim of the application is to communicate vie Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) with an inhouse developed electronic beacon called Bluebee.

All the main functions have been implemented, and today we need to run the code through an experienced iOS developer in order to “clean” the code, and detect all the possible efficiency improvement areas and especially memory management and CPU management improvements areas.

Objectives:
There are four main deliverables expected from the developer.
1. Code optimisation guidelines
2. Efficient memory management
3. Efficient battery consumption management guidelines
4. Detection of the possible App crush situations and providing recommendations on how to avoid such situations

Details:
1. The contractor shall review the existing code, and detect and highlighting parts of the code that don’t follow generally admitted best practice and especially Apple recommended guidelines. The contractor shall also deliver a list of recommendations aimed at raising the overall fluidity and efficiency of the application

2. After reviewing the code, a list of recommendation shall aim specifically at minimising iDevice Memory consumption in order to lower the frequency of cases when the application gets killed by the system. This will include recommendations regards possible memory cleaning after the application receives “Low memory” notifications from the system

3. After reviewing the code, a list of recommendation shall aim specifically at minimising iDevice battery consumption. This will include recommendations on optimising the CPU usage and Bluetooth and GPS usage.

4. The contractor shall scan the code for possible App crush situations (we have recorded internally at least 2 user behaviours leading to app crush). A list of recommendations shall be provided as to how to avoid detected crush situations, as well as a in app methods/frameworks to implement an easy detection of such situations.

Terms
The recommendations will be provided through a documented report. Each recommendation will explicitly reference the specific code parts it is referring to. When possible, reference to existing best practice guidelines will be provided (i.e. Apple Guidelines, etc.)
Two Bluebees will be provided to the developer for app testing.
